Any order placed from another country than Switzerland is automatically validated and paid without tax. Can you exchange your watch at The Swiss Collector?

Exchanges are possible for certain models. Please contact a sales advisor in shop or contact us at contact@theswisscollector.com to find out about the possibilities and terms of exchange.

Why is the list price lower than the price we charge on some watches?

Some rare or discontinued watches can be worth more than their original price (catalogue price) because they are harder to find and demand is very high for these pieces.

What happens if the watch purchased from The Swiss Collector has a defect?

As a guarantee of quality, all the watches we offer for sale come with a 48-month warranty. During this two-year guarantee period, you can contact us and return your watch if it is defective. Defects in use are covered by the warranty except for loss, theft, and damage resulting from improper handling.  If your watch is found to be defective, it will be repaired free of charge. If your watch is no longer under warranty, or if the problem is not covered by your warranty, we will provide you with a quotation to repair it and return it to you in good working order.

Why has your watch stopped?

If you have a mechanical watch, it probably needs to be wound in order to start again. It takes about forty turns of the crown to get the power reserve up to full strength. Automatic watches can run out of power if they are worn infrequently or if your wrist movements are not sufficient to wind it. On the other hand, if your watch is a quartz watch, the battery may need to be changed. You can contact one of our 30 branches in Switzerland to have it changed.

What is the difference between a mechanical and a quartz watch?

The main difference between a mechanical watch and a quartz watch is the mechanism that makes the watch work. A mechanical watch can be either manual or automatic and has a mainspring to power it. A quartz watch is powered by a battery, which can run the watch for an average of one to five years.

How long does a quartz battery last?

The battery life of a quartz watch can vary between one and five years depending on several factors. The age of the watch or the complications of the watch can affect the life of the battery.

How do you know if your watch is genuine?

All the watches we sell are authenticated and serviced by our Swiss watchmaker partners before being put online. Some models are also sold with the authentication papers and invoices of the brands. Finally, as a guarantee of quality, we sell each watch with a 48 month The Swiss Collector warranty.

Will the strap of the watch you want to buy fit your wrist?

Used watch straps can vary in size. We sell all watches with as many links as possible, which you can then have reduced in size at one of our 30 locations in Switzerland or at the jeweller of your choice. If the bracelet is missing links or does not fit, you can contact us at contact@theswisscollector.com to see if we can find additional links or find another solution.

Can we find a particular watch?

If you are looking for a specific watch, which we do not have in stock, you can create a personal alert and be the first to be notified when the piece arrives in stock on our website. New items are released every week, so there is a good chance that your favourite model will appear online.

How can you sell your watch at The Swiss Collector?

If you would like to sell or consign your watch to The Swiss Collector, you can visit one of our 30 locations in Switzerland to get an appraisal and a trade-in offer from us. If a trade-in offer is agreed, we pay you in cash or by bank transfer on the same day. If a consignment offer is made, we will pay you the agreed amount once your watch has been sold.

Do you need the box and papers to sell the watch?

A watch without a box and papers may lose its value, however this is not essential to sell it.

When will you receive payment for your watch?

Once your watch has been sold at The Swiss Collector, you will receive the payment in cash immediately or by bank transfer within five working days of the transaction.

How long will it take for your watch to be serviced?

Initially, we will send you a quote within 5 to 15 days. Once validated, the overhaul of your watch at The Swiss Collector can take from three weeks for the smallest interventions to eight weeks for the biggest operations. This period may vary depending on the operations to be carried out on the watch and the availability of the parts to be replaced.

Can you make a watch reservation?

You have the possibility to come and see a model you are interested in thanks to the reservation forms available on each product sheet. However, as long as a deposit is not paid or a purchase made, the product is not secured and can possibly be purchased by another customer.

How long can you reserve a model at The Swiss Collector?

If you wish to reserve a model, you must pay a deposit to block it. After that, you will have 30 days to pay your invoice. Your purchase can only be collected once the invoice has been paid in full.
