The first Accutron was released in 1960 and represents a revolution in the watch industry to be the first tuning fork electric watch. Its inventor, Max Hetzel, was born in Basel, and joined the company in 1948. The tuning fork was powered by a transistor and an electronic oscillator, so Accutron is considered the first "electronic watch". More than 4 million watches were sold until production was stopped in 1977. The most famous model of the brand is the Accutron Spaceview with a futuristic design that we see in the film Immoral Tales with the mythical scene of Fabrice Luchini at the beach. In 2010, as a tribute to 50 years of watchmaking innovation, an Accutron Collector numbered in 1,000 handmade units was launched and sold even before its release. In 2014, the Accutron II Alpha model using the design of the spaceview shield and equipped with a precisionist movement was born.
